Flexitech Group is an independent, wholly Australian owned company dedicated to the recruitment and placement of Engineers, Scientists, Clay Modellers, Fabricators, Technologists (CAD/CAM/CAE) and other Technical professionals for the Automotive, Aerospace and Engineering and Design industry.
We are seeking a candidate with a tertiary degree in Applied Science, Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
You will have a thorough knowledge of Fuels & Lubricants, and a clear understanding of SAE viscosity ratings, API and ILSAC oil specification systems and be able to interpret standard oil analysis and performance tests. Working knowledge of FTIR would be an advantage.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
This is an ideal opportunity to utilise your experience in fuels and lubricants, whilst keeping up to date with new materials.
Experience in a similar role is desirable, but if you come from a chemistry background, or are a recent graduate from either Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Applied Science you may be considered.
The Basic Functions of this position are:
• Selection, development and specification of materials for optimum performance and economy in the field of fuels, lubricants, engine coolants, brake fluids, power steering fluids, automatic transmission fluids and related materials
• Preparation of specifications for materials and associated test methods for the materials for which he/she is responsible.
• Investigation of vehicle development and field problems and recommend solutions where appropriate
• Assist in resolution of vehicle production problems
• Ensure that specifications are accurate and data is released on schedule
• Select materials on the basis of good engineering practice, economic considerations and those that satisfactorily meet the requirements of the product and production environment
• Be abreast of the properties of new materials, understand new processes and techniques for the materials for which he/she is responsible.
• Develop appropriate knowledge base of relationship of materials to industry, community and environment
• Work in a manner requiring minimal supervision
• While informing supervision, would be expected to initiate action to overcome shortages or schedule deficiencies.
• Participate in design control teams
• Participate in global standards committees
• Represent the company on technical committees
• Travel, as required, to represent company/materials engineering at meetings related to areas of responsibility
• Keep accurate records relating to test work and investigations and follow up with a timely, technically accurate, well written, comprehensive report.
