    The Team…. This position is part of the building control group which undertakes the statutory functions of Council and the Municipal Building Surveyor. The team contributes to making Melbourne great by ensuring the safety of our City’s buildings.

    The position… is responsible for assisting/carrying out building inspections and audit services to ensure that building work and existing buildings within the City of Melbourne protect safety, health and amenity safety of the public and occupants and comply with building legislation. Also the role is involved in the assessment of documentation and inspection of Places of Public Entertainment for the issue of Temporary Occupancy Permits. The role supports the Senior Building Surveyor and other members of the Building team in the implementation of an effective program of building inspections.

    You will have…

    • Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying/Inspection
    • Comprehensive knowledge in building legislative procedures and proven experience in all facets of checking and managing the certification of a variety of buildings
    • High standard of customer service, interpersonal, networking and negotiation skills
    • Building inspection experience in a variety of buildings
    • Highly developed skills in the use of a range of relevant computer software

    Desirable…

    • Registration as a Building Practitioner in the category of Building Inspector/Surveyor
    • Good report writing skills
    • Knowledge of Council policies, procedures and local laws
