Chief Executive, NSW Kids & Families

    North Sydney, Full-time, Term Appointment, Job Ref No HES/2012/20
    An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant for a contract period of up to 5 years, with annual performance reviews.
     
    NSW Kids and Famili es is a Board governed Statutory Health Corporation which will provide statewide leadership in regard to the healthcare and wellbeing of mothers, babies, children, young people and families.
     
    The Chief Executive (CE) leads the management of NSW Kids and Families. The CE is accountable for effectively preparing and delivering NSW Kids and Families agreed Strategic Plans and annual work plans within its allocated budget and consistent with NSW Health and NSW Government policy, to underpin the operational delivery of high quality healthcare and health promoting services to mothers, babies, children, young people and families across NSW.
     
    The Chief Executive, NSW Kids and Families will;
    ·         Lead and direct the development, and support the implementation and evaluation of a Board endorsed Statewide Strategic Plan.
    ·         Provide strategic, high-level, timely and expert advice to the Board of NSW Kids and Families, the Director-General and Minister for Health on diverse and complex health service activities, trends and issues, including funding and policy initiatives and benchmarking, child wellbeing and child protection and the status of healthcare quality and safety for mothers, babies, children, young people and families across NSW and against national and international trends.
    ·         Lead the development and promotion of policies, programs and innovative services statewide to enable the provision of effective and efficient services that meet the needs of the community.
    ·         Lead  NSW Health?s contribution to State activities in the program area including whole of government approaches for mothers, babies, children, young people and families
    ·         Partner effectively with a broad range of stakeholders including the Clinical Excellence Commission, Cancer Institute, Health Education and Training Institute, the Ministry of Health, Local Health Districts, General Practice, consumers and the community in development of and support for the implementation of the Statewide Strategic Plan for NSW Kids and Families.
     
    Selection Criteria:
    1.     Proven track record leading statewide planning, policy development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in health;
    2.     Management experience at an executive level in a health related context;
    3.     Proven track record in leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary professional team to successfully effect system change in health care;
    4.     Sound experience in high-level intergovernmental and interdepartmental leadership, communications and negotiations;
    5.     Demonstrated capabilities in high-level consultation with the non government sector, clinicians and community groups;
    6.     Demonstrated leadership skills and credibility across a diverse range of clinical and professional stakeholders;
    7.     Superior ability to communicate widely with senior managers within Health, the Minister, and with senior personnel in other NSW Government agencies, the Commonwealth and other States.
    8.     High level interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and communication skills;
    9.     Judgement, flexibility and foresight;
    10.  Capacity to develop innovative solutions to optimise efficiency and effectiveness of health care services provided across the public health system;
    11.  Working knowledge of contemporary national and international trends in program areas Evidence base in relation to children?s health and wellbeing;
    12.  Sound knowledge of National and State policy and cross-portfolio and whole-of-government issues, government policy, directions, priorities, service delivery plans, in relation to relevant program areas at both the national and state levels;
    13.  Tertiary qualifications in a health or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
