The Opportunity
A unique opportunity exists for a suitably qualified PhD student to undertake a doctoral research project aimed at identifying novel causes of skin disease. The successful applicant will be enrolled through Monash University and based in Melbourne but will sp end 6-12 months of their doctorate at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (Cambridge, UK), one of the world\'s leading research facilities. The project involves close collaboration with the WTSI Mouse Genetics Program and UK collaborators to screen for new models of skin disease. Applications are invited from talented candidates with strong undergraduate and honours records in the fields of genetics and/or molecular biology. Experience in the analysis of models of disease is desirable but not essential. A candidate\'s demonstrated ability to work independently and to use their initiative would be viewed favourably.
The studentship provides a full stipend in line with NHMRC APA scales, as well as travel, relocation costs and a stipend supplement for the period of study in Cambridge.
