The Linux systems administration and network engineering team is an essential part of the technology group, tasked with keeping the data flowing.
We're looking for Linux Systems Admins who have deep hands on experience with Linux excellent knowledge of IP networking.
In this job you'll have your finger on the pulse of a high performance data capture, crunching and storage network.

We're looking for Linux Systems Admins who have deep hands on experience with Linux excellent knowledge of IP networking.
In this job you'll have your finger on the pulse of a high performance data capture, crunching and storage network.
The focus here is on open source tools and technologies where possible - here's an overview of the technology in use:
- Debian is the dominant distro here but you'll also find other such as Redhat
- Hardware is Dell, HP and Sun
- Common software packages in use includes Apache, Squid, Postfix, Dovecot, PostgreSQL, PHP, perl, bash, ssh, rsync, Nagios, RRD, OpenLDAP, Samba, NTPD, VMWare, standard GNU/*nix command line tools : grep, sed, awk, sort, wc, cat, ps, ls, gzip, bzip2,
Here is a taste of some of the things that the Linux Network Engineering team are handling on a daily basis:
- Dealing with large (greater than one terabyte) text-files and proxy log files
- Rollout of new systems to Internet Service Providers - configuring and installing servers, fibre cards, fibre taps, custom operating system builds and applications including ethtool, tcpdump & in-house applications
- Sometimes traveling to ISP's and doing physical installation and sometimes doing remote installation and configuration
- Rollout and upgrade of Postgres database servers
- Rollout and upgrade of web servers and web sites (Debian, Apache, PHP)
- Rollout and upgrade of internal fileservers & mailservers.
- Designing and developing tools to make the sysadmin job easier, more effective and more consistent
- Keeping people informed about the status of key issues and projects
- Deep problem solving through analysis of logs & hardware/software configuration
- Configuring and tuning of Nagios monitoring systems
- Working with technicians from suppliers and partners
- Working with the software development teams to track down faults and issues in the production systems
- Designing/installing/configuring/tuning data manipulation scripts in scripting languages
