    As Deputy Director in the Directorate of Litigation you will be responsible for managing a variety of legal claims in various fora, including State and Federal courts, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Australian Human Rights Commission. As a member of the Directorate you will liaise with other areas of Defence, and provide instructions to and work closely with a range of external legal service providers on legal claims. The Directorate places emphasis on the use of alternative dispute resolution methods for the purpose of resolving disputes.

    Applicants should have experience in, or aptitude for, providing legal services in an in-house legal environment and a capacity to exercise professional legal judgement and initiative.

    Applicants must also be admitted as a practitioner, however described, of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
