Executive Officer to Divisional Manager City Business

    Brisbane City Council is seeking an Executive Officer to the Divisional Manager of City Business. City Business is one of the most diverse divisions in council and delivers services including fleet maintenance, facilities management for Council buildings, waste management services, water quality testing, shared support services, pay services, and accounts payable and receivable.

    This is a commercially focused role, including strategic thinking, analysis and problem solving, issues management, stakeholder management and the operation of City Business. You will contribute to the overall management, operation and strategic direction through:

    • provision of professional opinion and judgement in relation to issues, initiatives and proposals
    • analysis, research, synthesis and independent assessment on the strategic and broader policy implication of submissions, briefing, reports and policy proposals
    • management, reporting and evaluation of selected projects that position City Business to meet major challenges
    • research, write and edit correspondence, presentations, reports and committee submissions on behalf of and in conjunction with the Divisional Manger
    • relationship management with senior managers across Council
    • representation of the Divisional Manager, City Business’s interests at negotiations, committee meetings and forums
    • liaison with the Chairman and other political stakeholders.

    To be successful in this role you will have:

    • experience in providing high quality advice, interpretation and information to senior management
    • outstanding analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to deal with complex issues and identify contentious and emergent issues and develop recommendations
    • exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with strong verbal and written communication capability
    • flair for leading strategic and business agendas, and for ensuring the achievement of objectives and targets.

    Due to the sensitive and political nature of this role, qualifications in business, sales and marketing or a related field would be highly utilised.
