What Are The Wages Compensating For?
Monday December 15, 2008
When you see a job that offers high wages but requires limited experience and training, you should wonder what the wages are compensating for. While there is no need to be negative about it, it is necessary to be realistic. High wages are designed to attract and retain the best employees for a job. Most of the time, this means compensating people by providing wages that relate to their experience, training or clout within an industry. The other times, high wages are compensatory for difficult living conditions or just plain unpleasant work that few people are willing to take on.
Be sure to look into the specifics of a role like that before agreeing to employment. Wages are not everything, and they can sometimes be so tempting as to keep you in a job you are miserable in if you get used to the higher pay.
