When is it a good time to ask for a wages increase?
Thursday February 26, 2009
Wages negotiations are an assumed, and sometimes uncomfortable, part of jobs.
However, the recent development and decline of the global financial crisis has placed even more pressure on companies and their employees jobs and wages expectations.
With the unemployment rate climbing higher over recent months, many companies are tightening their financials belts, resulting in many employees losing their jobs. For the remaining staff, it can be a very awkward time as the cost of living rises...but the wages do not.
It is important to note that this is a financially tough time for companies with many experts now saying that those employees who were planning to ask for a wages increase may want to hold off for a few months, at least until the end of the financial year for the long term security of their jobs.
Of course, it is dependent on many factors such as what sort of employment and company you work for to determine your appropriate wages.
