Education jobs in Australia are one of the more popular professions with good benefits and holidays, with many finding teaching jobs particularly rewarding. Across Australia there is a shortage in people qualified for education jobs with many overseas- trained teachers taking up education jobs in all levels of the sector.
Wages in education jobs over the course of 2008 experienced a steady rise, climbing from an average annual wages of $55,000 to $63,843 by December 2008. Wages in education jobs varies greatly between different regions and areas but especially between the different types of educations jobs.
For example, education jobs at the early childhood level such as kindergarten and childcare average wages of $50,000 while primary school education jobs average wages range from $60,000 - $70,000.
High school education jobs wages range significantly but the average wages for this level of education jobs is $60,000.
University education jobs pay higher than those in primary and secondary schools with wages ranging from $110,000 for professor jobs with research jobs earning wages around $73,000 while lecturers average wages of $90,000.
Finally, special needs education jobs wages ranked much the same as high school teacher's wages at $60,000.
