The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is one of the world’s leading educational research and development organisations.  ACER is seeking to fill two positions involving data analysis, data management and report writing.

The Psychometrics and Methodology team provides psychometrics service and support for other units within ACER, undertakes commissioned work for outside agencies including State and Territory Education Departments and other clients, and undertakes research into fundamental psychometrics and quantitative methodology issues.

One position, Research Officer, involves to assisting with project work in relation to data analysis and data management.  A motivated candidate can view this position as an apprenticeship to learn data analysis skills, psychometric theories and statistical modelling.

The other position, Data Analyst, will support and participate in the work of project teams, managing data, scaling test and questionnaire data, performing statistical analysis (bivariate and multivariate) and writing reports.

You will hold a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification, preferably in statistics or a related area.  Sound knowledge of statistics as applied in social research is required, as is experience with MS Excel.  Experience using SAS, SPSS or MS Access is highly desirable.  You will also possess good verbal and interpersonal skills.  Psychometric expertise in the analysis of test data and knowledge of IRT would be an advantage for the Data Analyst position.

Salaries are within the range of $50,923 - $76,142 (plus superannuation) depending on experience and qualifications.
